Aloe gel stimulates collagen synthesis and skin regeneration, renewing mature skin and decreasing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles |
There are many over-the-counter, mass produced personal care products that can be replaced with a few basic ingredients using these old fashioned remedies for personal care. Essential oils can smooth away wrinkles, and soften damaged skin. There is a very real difference when using real essential oils, rather than the artificial fragrances that are added to commercial skin lotions, hair care products, and facial creams. Not only do these pure, unadulterated organic oils smell better, they work on a healing level that synthetic compounds cannot duplicate.
In today's busy world, you may think you don't have the time to make up your own cosmetics, like your great grandmother once did. Many modern women who are concerned with the level of toxic chemicals that form the basis of most beauty products turn to natural, organic brands instead. This is a good thing. The drawback is, 1: quality organic products tend to cost three or four times more than their synthetic counterparts, and 2: Many of them only contain a very small percentage of the natural herbal extracts and oils. My solution is to buy simple bulk ingredients, like castile soap, organic oils like olive and almond, and transform them into simple and effective home beauty treatments by adding essential oils. You will find my formulas for home beauty with real aromatherapy oils here, and I hope that they give you plenty of ideas for making them your own.

Using Herbs for :Acne |
 Lavender Oil
|
Acne responds to gentle herbal oil treatments that are much lighter and less harsh than over-the-counter chemicals. Applying a thin layer of aloe vera gel will help ease discomfort caused by painful skin irritations and acne. Dot essential oils of lavender, tea tree and lemon on blemishes to kill bacteria. You can also blend essential oils with light, astringent facial oils like almond and grapeseed. If your face is dry, use thick, luxurious tamanu oil for an overnight cream. 1 |

 Lemon

Massage helps to tone the skin and using astringent oils such as
Lemon,
Lemongrass, and
Cypress can lessen the appearence of cellulite.
Kelp and other seaweeds have long been used to reduce cellulite deposits, as has caffeine such as coffee extracts or guarana, applied in topical treaments to dehydrate the treated area causing the area to become smaller because of the loss of water. Good circulation is also vital to treating cellulite, rosemary and Horse Chestnut bark are two herbs that increase blood flow and tone the problem areas. |

Using Herbs for :Skin care |
 Rose oil, rose water
|
Astringent and luxurious, rose oils and rose waters are welcome additions to almost any skin care formulation, and the rose holds a special place in facial care. Rosewater can be used alone as a facial wash, or incorporated in lotions and creams. Homemade rosewater is inexpensive, easy to make and better quality than one can find commercially. Attar of rose is one of the oldest and best known of all the oils. Rose oil is steam-extracted from the flowers. While it is expensive only a few precious drops are needed to impart the fragrance to facial oils and creams 1 |
